Prostate Surgery Recovery: In the field of health, there are certain conditions of the prostate gland that have lead to their death. These problems have been discussed by health organizations which gave them with many ideas about the health treatments and surgeries that are very helpful to their patients.

Common prostate surgeries are Prostatectomy and Trans-urethral Resection of the Prostate or TURP. To undergo such surgeries is never easy. Remember that the urinary system is responsible for excreting and removing a large amount of waste fluids from the body. Failure to remove these fluids will lead the person to have serious urinary infections and even death.

Certain preparations are required within a few days before the schedule of the surgery. Psychological and physical preparations are very important to help the client relax and stay calm. After surgery, close monitoring is a must. In this way, it doesn’t only prevent the risk of complications but it can also help in the successful recovery of the client.

A person who shows full recovery from the surgery will report relief or even slight discomfort. If this is present, it may be due to the unhealed incision site, bladder spasm, excoriation of the skin at the catheter site or it could even be a kidney problem . To avoid this serious problem, the patient is encouraged to increase his fluid intake. He is also advised to ambulate but avoid sitting for a long period of time to prevent further discomfort and possible bleeding.

Free of complications and absence of inflammation and bleeding over the incision site, a normal urinary elimination pattern should return. These are all positive indications that he will be discharged from the hospital. The health team will continue to observe and and monitor him if there is any acute complication that needs to be treated.

The patient should demonstrate fluid and electrolyte balance. These are very important to determine the excess or loss of fluids during the catheter irrigation. Make sure that the urinary output of the client is within normal level which is 30 mL per hour. To know if he exhibits fluid balance, there should be no signs and symptoms of urinary retention or bladder spasm.

A person is also taught how to participate in his self-care activities for this health and his prostate health. These include ambulation, drinking enough fluids, performing perineal exercises and avoid lifting heavy things. These are the common indications that a person is cooperating with the treatment process. Doing these activities will help him gain his confidence and help him to manage his present condition.

Unfortunately, there are several people who have died because of urinary problems. Recovery from surgery is one of the expected outcomes that any medical staff want for their patient. Cooperation and trust are the main reasons why a person recovers successfully from any condition. “No man is an island”, as the saying goes. Always remember that a patient cannot achieve a certain goal in his life without the help of other people. This will help immensely for prostate surgery recovery.

According to Dr. Meir Daller of the Lee Memorial Health System , around forty percent of men aged 40 and fifty percent of 50 year old men have an enlarged prostate. Furthermore he says that sixty percent of males of age sixty have also an enlarged prostate. Startling statistics that should not be ignored.

One of the health issues of prostate problems is called bph or benign prostate hyperplasia. This problem will cause extreme discomfort. Urinary problems arise because as the prostate gland increases, it will place pressure on the are of the urethra.

This results in frequent drips to the bathroom at night time. This makes getting back to sleep more awkward and lack of sleep brings additional health problems over the long term. Bladder stones and a more serious problem such as kidney failure can result from the issue of urinary retention.

The treatment used to be removal of part of the prostate gland. This involved a significant stay in hospital. However a brand new procedure is now being introduced in this field and no cutting is involved.

The procedure uses a special gas to vaporize the affected area of the prostate. The result is the same as traditional surgery. The vaporization procedure is carried out using a small button electrode.

Virtually no blood is spilled during this twenty minute procedure. Overall the patients do quite well and are able to go home after just an hour.

The procedure is aimed mostly at men not obtaining the required relief from the prescribed medication

Prostate Surgery

Prostate surgery can be done through the urethra tube or done with open surgery. This means actually cutting through the skin above the base of the penis. In this surgery the doctor inserts a thin tube through the urethra and uses a loop to chop pieces of the prostate.

A wire loop is employed and is directed by direct vision by trying a cystoscope. There are some cases where the prostate will keep growing and cause issues again later.

Another procedure which is the surgical removal of all or part of the prostate gland, is called a prostatectomy.

Prostate Surgery – What Are The Complications

There are complications to some prostate treatments. Sometimes there are patients that never recover sexual function and plenty of times it relies on how long the person had the symptoms before he surgery.

After some sorts of surgeries a person might find his semen won’t go out of the penis during intercourse but will back up into the bladder.

If you and your better half try to get pregnant a doctor who specializes in fertility can treat backward ejaculation. Generally the patient can be helped with these symptoms.

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, you may be wondering about some of the newest prostate surgery treatments available. One that’s been getting some serious press is prostate cancer cryo-surgery, one of the latest means of treating (and potentially eradicating) cancer.

Cryosurgery, as the name implies, involves freezing body parts. This type of prostate surgery involves cold metal “probes” being inserted into the prostate gland via incisions in the scrotum and/or anus.

Gases are then pumped through the probes, creating an instant freeze which destroys the prostate gland and, consequently, the prostate cancer within the gland.

Though not recommended for men with enlarged prostates, cryosurgery has had some good results in males whose prostate cancer has not spread beyond the prostate gland.

This procedure is done under general or local anesthesia, and a hospital stay of approximately one day is usually required. To ensure that bladder function remains viable during and after the cryosurgery procedure, a catheter is inserted so that urine can be moved out of the body. (The catheter is removed a few weeks after the cryosurgery has occurred.)

Patients who have opted for cryosurgery treatment in response to their prostate cancers have reported soreness and bruising in the vicinity of their rectums and scrotum.

Prostate Surgery – Treatment Of BPH

Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia , or BPH, is the standard prostate condition inspiring older men. Since the prostate gland develops wrapped round the higher portion of the urethra, if it swells, negative side-effects can result.

The treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia can take lots of different directions. These stop further prostate enlargement and in some cases basically shrink the prostate gland back to a lesser and obstructive size.

An instrument is inserted into the urethra to shed the portion of the prostate that obstructs pee flow.

Anesthesia is compulsory, and a catheter is usually used to get rid of blood or blood clots from the bladder. Patients are customarily wanted to stay in the surgery for a day or two for observation for the treatment of BPH.

If the prostate has been removed due to cancer, the complications and difficulty with sexual function may have long lasting effects. Most men can be treated with medical treatments or the doctor may decide to leave the nerves around the prostate in effect.

Thousands of men who have been treated for BPH and studying the outcome of the care each one to collect info about any complications of medicines used to treat prostate issues. New approaches to prostate surgery are also being looked at that would permit the patient to have treatment on an outpatient basis.

Prostate Gland

If you have had problems with your prostate gland that forced you to choose to have it removed (or consider having it removed), you need to know what the side effects of that decision are or will be. Below, we’ll look at a few of the outcomes of losing your prostate gland.

Hormonal Changes – The loss of the gland results in a lowering of male hormones. Thus, if yours is or has been removed, you may wish to take some kind of male hormone supplement to ensure that your body isn’t “shocked” by the loss of androgen.

Prostate Gland – Loss Of Sex Drive

Loss of Sex Drive or Impotency – Many men report a loss of the desire for intimacy after their prostate gland has been removed. However, there are medications and natural supplements that can be taken to improve the desire for sexual contact with one’s partner.

If you’re having trouble maintaining or getting an erection, that can sometimes be remedied, too. Ask your doctor for advice and don’t be shy; though it can seem embarrassing to discuss sexual activity, it’s in your best interest to feel as good as possible.

Difficulty Urinating or Having Bowel Movements – Sometimes, after the prostate gland is removed, noticeable waste elimination problems begin to occur due to nerve damage that was sustained during surgery.

These problems sometimes reverse themselves after the patient has healed, but if they don’t, further surgery may be necessary to relieve the issues.

Prostate Gland – Why You Feel Tired

Fatigue – Finally, many men report feeling more fatigued after losing their prostate. This could be for a combination of reasons, most likely hormonal changes mixed with psychological trauma.

Give it some time after your prostate gland has been taken out; often, with rest (and perhaps therapy), your energy will return to optimum levels.

Though it’s never an easy decision to have the prostate gland removed, rest assured that if you have to make that choice, there are prostate treatments available to help you return to pre-surgery health and wellness.
